How to Find Unfollowers on FollowBuddy FollowBuddy works by analyzing your Instagram data to show who unfollowed you and who never followed you back.
The process is slightly different depending on whether you’re using the Instagram Website (desktop) or the Instagram App (mobile).
Step 1 - Choose Your Platform
If you’re on the Instagram Website (desktop)
Open Instagram in your web browser.
Click this link while logged into the account you want to check.
If the link doesn’t work: Go to More → Settings → See more in Accounts Center.
Click Your information and permissions.

If you’re on the Instagram App (mobile)
Open Instagram → go to your Profile.
Tap the menu icon (☰) (top right).
Tap Accounts Center.

Look closely at your screen and match the wording:
If you see “Export your information” → Follow Path A below
If you see “Download your information”→ Follow Path B below
Can’t find either? You might not be in Accounts Center → Your information and permissions. Go back to Step 1.
Picked the wrong one? Just go back and choose the other path, nothing will break.
Path A - Export your information
(Works the same on Website & App)
Click/Tap Export your information.
Click/Tap Create export.
If prompted, select the correct account.
Click/Tap Export to device.
On Confirm your export:
Click Customize information -> Unselect all the options in this page and just select the 'Followers and Following' option in the 'Connections' section and hit Save.
Click Date range → All time → Save
Click Format → JSON → Save
Click/Tap Start export.
Instagram will email you when your file is ready.
Open the email → Download your file.
Note: Make sure every other option is unchecked in the 'Customize information' step. Only 'Followers and Following' should remain selected.
In FollowBuddy
Open FollowBuddy.
Upload the downloaded file.
Click/Tap Results.
Path B - Download your information
(Works the same on Website & App)
Click/Tap Download your information.
Click/Tap Download or transfer information.
If prompted, select the correct account.
Choose Some of your information.
Select Followers and following → Next.
Choose Download to device.
Set:
Date range → All time → Save
Format → JSON → Save
Click/Tap Create files.
Instagram will email you when your file is ready.
Open the email → Download your file.
In FollowBuddy
Open FollowBuddy.
Upload the downloaded file.
Click/Tap Results.
Important Notes
Always choose All time and JSON - otherwise, results will be incomplete.
If you manage multiple accounts, make sure you select the right one before downloading.
If the email doesn’t arrive, check your Spam/Promotions folder or request the export again.
The email will include a confirmation and a download link to your Instagram data.
Receiving the email may take anywhere from a few minutes to up to an hour, depending on the size of your account depending on the amount of followers and following you have.

Note: To find people that unfollowed you, you must check who doesn’t follow you back at least twice on a paid plan using FollowBuddy
Why Does My Results Look Incorrect?
There are many possible reasons why your results may look incorrect. Here are a few common mistakes people make:
You unzipped the file that Instagram gave you and FollowBuddy is unable to read it
You selected the wrong account when downloading your files from Instagram
You forgot to switch your file type from HTML to JSON
You did not set your date range to "All time"
You are trying to upload files belonging to another account when you only have one Instagram account setup in FollowBuddy (please upgrade to premium plus to manage 3 accounts)
How Do I Fix It?

Delete the audit you just uploaded in the analytics page that can be accessed on the side bar
Go through the entire download process over again and this time thoroughly follow all instructions
Upload your Instagram files to the right account you want to track
